Otherwise, your tractor might start to overheat or otherwise malfunction the first time you start it. Don’t forget to swap out your filters as well. While you’re at it, check the hoses for any cracks and other signs of damage. 

Check Belts and Brakes

Brakes can also rust if unused for long periods of time, so don’t forget to test your tractor’s brakes before using it the first time.
